Ray

Sunday I went to a Ray Lamontange concert with two of my friends from Jacksonville, and let me just say it was AMAZING! This was my first concert to go to that was in a theatre where you just sat and listened. At first I was a little disappointed that there would be no dancing or singing along, but after Ray started singing his first song, I was completely content with just sitting and listening. He has probably they best voice I have ever heard live (pretty bold statement, i know). I am now slightly obsessed with Ray...which is crazy since I hadn't even heard of the man before a month ago.

The other cool part about the concert was having the concert in the Fox Theatre. The best part of the theatre is the ceiling, which look like the sky so it makes you feel like you are outside. See how cool:

Goodbye Bug

I recently sold my bug right before I moved to Atlanta and I really miss that car. I loved the flowers in the flower pot, the plastic microphone that I kept in the glove box, and how I was SO easy to drive. Goodbye bug, I will miss you.

And now say hello to my new company car, a Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Image the car about but in a beautiful shade of light blue...the same shade of blue that you see on cars that old people drive. So we now refer to my new car as the "blue beauty." I do love having a company car because it means no more paying for gas, oil changes. car problems, etc., but there are some things that I am going to have to get used to. For example, the blue beauty starts and stops with the push of a button. Since I have had the car I have gotten out of my car with my keys and tried to lock the car, only to find out that I forgot to push the button to turn off the car. Then did the exact same thing more different times...I guess it will just take a while for me to get used to :)

Recruiting

Yesterday I was reminded of the good old days of rush for zeta. I had to go the the Atlanta College Fair (they have one big one for all of the colleges in Atlanta) to recruit for my company. I forgot how tired you can get from talking non stop to people all day. Most the students there were very professional, but some people just had no clue. Here are some things people told me yesterday:

  • "Sorry my resume is not completely updated, my mom printed out the wrong one for me."
  • "So, I really LOVE the way J&J baby powder smells so I figured that your company would be a good fit for me."
  • someone then decided to whisper to me "it you company cool to work for? i mean really cool? Because I cannot work for a company that is not awesome."
People, what are thinking?!? At least it was a very entertaining day for me!

On a side note: I am officially coming to homecoming! Ticket booked, hotel booked, game tickets bought and pigskin tickets bought! I cannot wait!!!

PDA

Today I was hugged by a Wal-Mart employee. It was awkward (the story of my life). I have 10 accounts that have doctors in Wal-Marts so I have to go in and see them. Today I walked in and this little old man that works in the vision center was so excited to see a rep from my company that he felt the need to hug me for kind of a long time. Strangely enough this is not the first time that I been hugged in a doctors office. Eye doctors and their staff are crazy, just part of the reason I love my job.

ATL

For those of you who haven't heard, I am moving to Atlanta tomorrow! I was pretty hesitant about the move at first but am getting more excited as it gets closer.

I am sitting in my apt watching the movers take all my stuff away. I am sad to leave Jacksonville, but I guess it is time to move on (and at least I am not moving to Minnesota or NY!).

I found a really cute apt in Atlanta, which I am very excited about! I would love to have lots of visitors so you all should def come visit me...there is tons of things to do in Atlanta.

Lastly, I don't really know anyone in Atlanta so if you have friends there PLEASE let me know :) I am going to need to meet them! I will try to get a lot better at blogging (esp since lately I have only been blogging when I move) and will keep you all updated on my next big move!

Moving on up

I now offically have a roomie again! Last weekend I moved in with my friend Lauren from work into a 2 bedroom apt. This was the quickest that I have ever gotten an apartment fully set up! We got all of the boys at work to help move us and got everything done in 2 days.

I am glad that I lived by myself for a year, because as many of you know this was one of my biggest fears, and now I know that I will be just fine if I have to live by myself again but I do LOVE having roommates though. It just makes live much better! I love always having someone to chat with, or when I make random comments during reality tv shows having someone to comment back.

Soon I will take some pics of our new apt so you all can see! I can't wait to see myold roomies very soon too!

I joined the trend...

and started the shred!

I have given up on the gym so instead I am doing the 30 day shred. I have heard of so many people that are doing this so I figure it must be good.

My friend Lauren is doing it with me so I will have someone to motivate me to do it. We even are making a 30 day chain link (the kind that you make in 2nd grade with construction paper) and putting it in our cubes to count down the 30 days!

Today was our first day of doing it and it am pretty sure my arms are going to be sore tomorrow. I think once we get the hang of what we are doing we take Begin's advice and listen to our own music.

30 days from now Lauren and I are going to be shredded :)

Beach Weekend!

This weekend the weather was PERFECT! It was 75 degrees with a light breeze, so we decided that we should go to the beach most of the day Saturday. I put sunscreen on before we left, but because the weather was so perfect I did not think about putting more sunscreen on....big mistake! I currently resemble a lobster and feel like heat is radiating off of my body. I guess I learned my lesson and will know better next time.

Today all the girls from my office went to brunch after church. We went to this cute place on the beach and all sat outside in the wonderful weather. I ate way too much, but the food was just so delicious!

There also was a music festival by the beach this weekend. It was the best people watching I have seen in a while. There was an old couple who had this choreographed dance to every song and we watched them for a while, and next to them was another old lady who was dancing like she was the only one there...we were loving it!

We have decided that we are going to be at the beach a lot the next couple of weekends before it gets too hot...I love visitors too, so if you would like a beach vaca come on out to jax :)

Update

I realize that I have been such a slacker on my blog, so here is an update of what I have been doing the past few weeks:

Last week I went on family vaca to Veil/Beaver Creek, Colorado.

This was only my second time to go skiing and I still am not very good at all. I did only fall twice, but I spent all of my time on either the bunny or green slopes. My favorite area was called the buckaroo express. It was a wide open area with nothing to worry about hitting...myself along with the millions of ski school kids hung around this run :)

This past week was the last week of the quarter at work so everyone was a little hectic. But, because we were so busy my manager gave us treats throughout the week. My faves include cami cakes (the BEST cupcakes I have ever had in my life) and lots of ice cream!

Right now I am on my way to New Orleans for work. I have never been there so I am very excited....actually, I am mostly excited for the wonderful food!

I hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Waco Weekend!

Last weekend I finally got to go back to Baylor for one of my favorite things ever...SING!!! It was SO much fun seeing all my roomies (minus Dez) and MKAKA (minus Kat). I have missed everyone sooo much and am so glad we all got to hang out. Next time we will all be together A Whit will be married!

When we were in Waco I got to go to a lot of my old favorite places:
-La Fiesta (i have really been craving mexican food b/c it is just not the same in Florida)
-Cafe Capp
-Bush's
-Spice
-attempted to go to common grounds
After being back at Waco I realized that I really do love that city.

Now for my thoughts on SING:
My favorite act was Pi Phi's which was a monsters theme. I thought it was so clever, loved all the songs, and just thought it was really creative. I was SHOCKED that they didn't even make pigskin...I mean their dancing was a little sloppy but other than that I have no clue why they didn't make it.

I also really liked K Sig (but I always love them), ATO, Kappa (even thought no one agrees with me), Sing Alliance, and KOT. I was so happy that Sing Alliance got 3rd place and thought they really deserved it! I also am so happy that Phi Chi finally was not in pigskin!.

Overall I had a FABULOUS weekend (minus slight plane problems) and cannot wait to come back to Texas again very soon!

So long, Farwell...

This week at work has been a little sad because half of the office is moving and going to their permanent territories. I am excited for all of the them because they are getting promoted, but do not love that the office is much quieter.
My cube friend, Eric, who used to sit across from me is leaving so now I have to look at an empty cube for a little bit. But in a couple of month 12 more people will come in and the office will be back to it's normal self. For now I am going to enjoy the office while it is a little bit calmer.
I guess I am just going to have to convince my work friends to all get blogs so I can keep up with them on a regular basis :)

I Caved

I have some free time on my hands and I have been tagged a ton of times on fb, so I finally decided to cave and to tell you all 25 random things about me. Here we go...

1. I love coke. Every day at work I have a coke and carmel rice cakes at exactly 10am. The people around me always know when 10 rolls around when they hear the pop of the coke can opening...it is like clockwork.

2. Reality TV is my favorite. Some of my faves include: So You Think You Can Dance, Project Runway, Amazing Race, Top Chef, The City, and the list goes on...

3. I am a VIP Hilton Honors member. This sounds more important than it really is. I have had to travel a lot for work lately, but the perks equal a ton on Hilton points.

4. I love to negotiate. This is one of the reasons I think sales is such a great job for me. I get great joy in haggeling prices and getting a deal (which btw, you can negotiate and get more Hilton points...that is how I got VIP status :)

5. Most of my groups of friends have some sort of name. Examples include: Core Four, Tri, Half House.

6. I pick out all my clothes for the week on Sunday. I have to iron a bunch for work and got tired of ironing every night, so now I just do it all at once on Sunday. It makes life much easier.

7. Sometimes I talk out loud what I am typing. I don't even realize I am doing it. Sometimes people at work think I am crazy b/c it seems as though I am talking to myself, but they have gotten used to it :)

8. I love playing cards. Everytime I go home I always play gin with my dad and have finally gotten good enough to beat him! I also love poker (even though I am awful at it).

9. Sandwiches are my favorite lunch food. Every day for lunch for the past coupld of years I eat a turkey sandwich with colby jack cheese and 7 grain honey wheat bread...it is delicious!

10. I am not very decisive. When choosing which college I would go to, I had deposits and both Baylor and A&M, and didn't decide on Baylor until May of my senior year (I am VERY pleased with my decision)

11. My sense of direction is not the best. I finally got a gps for Christmas and it is definitely one of the best/most needed gifts that I have ever gotten.

12. I made Mrs. Adams quit National Honor Society. Not really, but I did turn in my group's adopt a family gifts a day late and she yelled at me and said that she was quitting NHS, then that year she did. That is the only time I ever remember a teacher yelling at me.

13. I used to want to be a teacher when I grew up. I still think that I could be a teacher in a couple of years, but I like sales too much to change careers right now.

14. Even though I wanted to be a teacher I think that I was meant to be in sales. When I was little I used to set up a table and put all of my stuff that I didn't want anymore and used to sell it to my brother...I guess I started early.

15. I had the same birthday as my first dog. His name was Casey and he lived to be 17...I loved that dog but love my current dogs just as much! I want to get a dog of my own but travel too much to have one right now.

16. I love living in Florida but my heart will always be in Texas. Hopefully I will be back to the lone star state very soon!

17. Disney World is one of my favorite places in the world. My family has a bit of an obsession with this place...so far I have been 3 times in the past year...definitely one of the perks of living in Florida!

18. Going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do. In high school, Ash and I would go almost every weekend and we would get there early enough to sit in the middle seats in the middle of the theatre (middle middle as we like to call it). We are pretty much professional movie goers.

19. I am a very picky eater. Almost everything I eat is plain. I don't really like condiments (except butter which I love) but I think that makes things simple.

20. I don't wear contacts but I talk about them all day. I did try them on however so I could feel which ones are the best. Someone else did have to put them in for me b/c my eyes just couldn't stay open long enough for me to get it in.

21.I love my car. Ever since I was 13 I wanted a bug (I even used to have a poster hanging in my room...sad, I know).

22. I am a terrible singer...but have accepted that and continue to sing a lot anyways :)

23. I have a star named after me. My grandma bought a star for all the grandkids and I even have a certificate to prove it!

24. I love to the office. At work we have office quotes posted outside of our cubes. I think this show is genious!

25. I have the best family and friends ever!

It's Fun To Stay at the YMCA

I finally did it...I joined a gym! Most of you know that working out is probably at the bottom of my list in terms of things that I want to do, but I finally just sucked it up and joined. I sit at my desk all day so I just feel like I need to move around a little more so working out is now is on my schedule of things to do.

The wonderful thing about the gym I joined is that they have a TON of classes and I have already recruited people to go with me. I am most excited about Cardio dance and Zumba (also a dance-ish class). I think this could possibly even be fun, but I will let you know after I go through the classes.

The second great thing about this gym is that it used to be are really fancy private workout place/spa, but it was a little too high end and went out of business not too long after they opened. So the really fancy gym donated the building and all the fancy equipment to the YMCA and now we get to use everything but only have to pay for the YMCA.

Working out...here I come!

Meetings Galore

The past 4 days I have been at our national meeting for work. I love having all of the sales reps in the country in one place b/c everyone is so nice and super chatty. The down fall to these things is that we literally go from meeting to meeting to meeting all day every day.

Every year we have a big awards banquet which people tend to get real into. But the best part is afterwards they created a "club vistakon". I personally think the company was trying a little to hard to be cool b/c when we walked in there was a ton of multicolored flashing lights everywhere. I was dying laughing the instant I walked in but loved how all othe older reps we impressed with "club scene".

I do really love all the people I work with and this week made me love them all even more!

Stressed

The past month of work has stretched me more that I ever thought it would in such a short amount of time. There has been SO much stuff happening in the past few weeks and so many emotions around the office that it was kind of overwhelming to for me.

In the past 48 hours I have felt relieved, happy, upset, hesitant, weary, valued, and many other things that I didn't think was possible to feel all at the same time. All that being said, I have never been so happy to be back in Florida and sitting in my cube talking to my favorite doctors :)

So much radio

Now that I have ventured out of my cubicle to Minnesota, I get to drive around to all different doctors offices. This means that I listen to the radio much more than I normally would. Because I have heard the top 40 songs about 100 times each I will share with you my top five favorite songs at this moment.

In no particular order they are...

1. You Found Me- The Fray
2. Love Story (the fast radio one)-Taylor Swift
3. Feel that Fire- Dierks Bentley
4. My Life Would Suck Without You- Kelly Clarkson (I do love that Kelly is Back)
5. Sweet and Low- Augustana

I also am obsessed with 2 cds at the moment as well. They are:

#1. Fearless:
I have recently become obsessed with Taylor Swift and like her new cd even more than the first one! I would def recommend buying this if you don't already own it.

#2. Jersey Boys Soundtrack

I realize that this is an extremely random choice but lately I just have been loving it. I think because it is so different from all of the music on the radio and a fun break when i am driving.

So there you have it...my current radio faves. Let me know what your favorites are!

BBRRR!

It's cold up here! Every morning when I wake up I check weather.com to determine how many layers of clothes that I am going to wear for the day. When I woke up this morning this is what I saw:
In case you can't read it very well, the actual temperature was -7 but it feels like -18. Let me just say that whoever invented hand warmers is a genius and I am SO lucky my friend Lauren seen me a ton of them!

So Many Movies...

There are so many movies are out or that are soon to be out that I am dying to see. Here is my list of movies that I must see:

#1. New In Town:

I mainly want to see this movie because it is very similar to my life right now! I can definitely relate to the picture above...that is me every morning.

#2. Confessions of a Shopaholic

This is probably last on my list but I still think that it looks cute.
#3. Bride Wars

So, I actually already saw it but I really liked it so I thought it should make my list. Also, the ending is not very predictable which i loved!

#4. Revolutionary Road
Most of you know about my recent obsession with Titanic, so the fact that Kate and Leo are back together in another movie automatically makes me want to see it.

#5. He's Just Not That Into You
This is probably the movie I am looking forward to the most! There is a ton of big names in the cast and the previews just look so good.
So there you have it, my top 5 movies so far in 09. Let me know if you have seen any of the movies that are out and your thoughts on them!

Minnesota

So for those of you who don't know, I am in Minnesota for the next month for work. I got the opportunity to go out and talk to docs in person so here I am!

The weather here is a drastic change from Florida to say the least. Last Thursday was the coldest day Minnesota has had in 5 years...crazy i know! I have never seen so much snow and ice in my life, so this is definitely an experience for me.

The good thing is that the people here are SO nice! I absolutely love all the docs I chat with...it is even better to talk to them in person rather than on the phone. I even made friends with the hotel staff. I chat with them every afternoon about my day and they even sent me a dessert plate to welcome me!

These next couple weeks are going to be an adventure and I will try to keep you all posted. So for now I am signing off from the twin cities!

Christmas, New Years and everything in between

Christmas with my family was a little different this year, but just as good as always. It was my first Christmas to not be in Texas because my whole fam came to Florida. We spent Christmas eve and Christmas day in Jacksonville, but then headed to Orlando to one of my families favorite vacation places in the world...Disney World!

We got to go to all of the Disney Parks and Universal Studios as well. I am proud to admit that I did ride all roller coasters in Disney World (i know that are not that big...but they are still big for me). I am obsessed with the new Toy Story Mania ride too! My fave Disney movie already is Toy Story but this ride is just so cool. It is 3D and you get to shoot things for points!

Disney was packed for the most part but thanks to a little "disney magic" from a certain someone we didn't have to wait in any big lines at magic kingdom! It was spectacular!

I loved getting to see me family for almost 2 weeks and had such a wonderful break!
